Alex Veritas finally sat down with Nina Patel, and made sure the meeting would never be forgotten. Seeking access to Abigail Hawthorne, Alex chose demonstration over negotiation. Reaching into Nina’s thoughts with terrifying ease, she uncovered a private desire hidden beneath layers of control and ambition. Then, with a few whispered commands, Alex reprogrammed Nina’s assistant to fall hopelessly in love with her for the evening. Calm. Precise. Intimate. A perfect display of what Alex can do to anyone, anywhere, at any time. And Nina understood the message immediately.

Meanwhile, at the Springfield Police Department, Tayla Lane remains trapped outside her own life. Every system that should confirm her existence says she’s nobody. No records. No access. No history. Cassandra Carlan erased it all without leaving a trace. The police can’t restore what they don’t understand, and worse, they don’t even know what was removed. So Detective Lena Shaw makes the only move left available: direct contact. Officer Eve Morgan agrees to go undercover, disguising herself as Tayla in the hope of luring Cassandra back into the open. Elsewhere, another dark alliance begins to form. Dr. Miriam Spectre, the architect behind the Veil’s horrific conversion therapy program, is approached by Siren, the new leader of the fractured cult. But this isn’t about rebuilding the old system. Siren has bigger plans. Whisper technology. Neural conditioning. Psychological reconstruction on a scale the Veil could never achieve alone. And Miriam Spectre is being invited back to do what she does best.
